Nostalgia is never as good the second time around. While the original was a cute and fun concept bolstered by surprising amounts of visual detail and a nice swift pace, Nostalgia 2 fails to recapture the same energy and visual quality. The first 10 maps get it off to a fairly solid start, but the cave episode kills the pacing by being dark and weirdly hard to navigate, the secret maps don't hit nearly as well as the original's, and the entire second half is hell themed (hell cave, hell city, and flesh hell), which causes it to suffer greatly in the visual department despite myolden's best attempts to win me over with doomcute in the city levels. The hell cave and flesh hell maps are especially ugly, and blend together even more than Nostalgia 1's hell levels. It limps to the finish with some painfully bland levels in the final episode and another icon of sin level that's even simpler and more boring than what was done last time, and ends off on some meme story text that left a weirdly bad taste in my mouth. I almost get the feeling that myolden was running out of steam while finishing this one and just kinda slapped together the remaining few maps before shoving it out the door which is understandable considering how many other projects he was either working on/helping with, but I wish Nostalgia 2 had been given more time in the oven.
