What lies beneath? Quite a lot of things somehow. The things that What Lies Beneath manages to do in just 11 fairly concise maps are really damn impressive. It transitions between so many completely unique themes in such a believable way, each map has a great sense of place that you don't always see in doom maps, all within a community project setting. Each map is fun and snappy to play, and everyone's different mapping styles cohere together so well. Unfortunately the final map ends it on a bit of an eh note, it's a bit overly long and slow, but that doesn't do much to hinder what's otherwise an absolutely stellar set of maps.
