Note: Played using the Touhou Doom Advance Pack which implements a few extra features.
An ambitious effort that pulls through on charm alone. Touhou Doom has quite a few objective flaws that I can't ignore; most of the level design (especially early on) is extremely basic and visually bland, it's pretty easy for the most part, and the custom weapons you use for the middle portion aren't the most fun to use. However, not only are the boss fights really really fun (yes, boss fights), and touhou music makes everything more fun, there's just so much passion and heart behind this goofy adventure of doomguy going through Gensokyo and [spoilers]. Yeah yeah it's not a super well written plot (doomguy's dialogue reminds me of the average wattpad reader insert MC at times), but i'll always appreciate it nonetheless. Touhou Doom's developer was very clearly punching far above their weight in a lot of ways, but there's a lot of genuinely fun moments and the clear dedication to both doom and touhou make it hard not to get swept up in the fun.
Note 2: Also I didn't play the extra episode since it's just a boss rush, if i do get around to it I'll update this review.
