First playthrough was never given a properly written review, so don't go looking for one.
One last trip through the wad that started it all before I move on to the long awaited sequel. Time Tripper has lost a bit of its magic after more playthroughs, but the core of the experience is still in there, and DAMN is it still fantastic. Time Tripper is a gorgeous dimension-hopping adventure full of fancy GZDoom alterations. It may only be 7 maps but they are 7 DAMN good maps (and one not so good secret map). Your weapons have gotten a full Doom 64 style makeover, and almost every enemy has had its patterns upgraded to be very shmup-like, with several new additions to the enemy lineup as well. Every map is absolutely jaw-droppingly gorgeous and full of vibes, and the music is some of the most fantastic I've ever heard in a doom mod. Time Tripper flip-flops between high energy action and contemplative melancholy extremely well, the vibes here are off the charts. This playthrough was the first I did on Normal rather than Light and honestly? Light is still the better option. Time Tripper's enemy changes get pretty chaotic, but damage is tuned REALLY high on average which can make some fights pretty damn frustrating. Light balances the enemy placement a tad bit better and gives a flat 25% decrease to all incoming damage which lets you surrender yourself to the chaos more easily while still remaining really engaging. It's been a damn long 5 years but finally that last bit of the ending credits roll finally has a resolution. See you on the other side everyone.
