In the Doomworld page for this wad, Vortale mentions how he considers TQC a bit of a failure and is disappointed by the end result. If this is considered a failure then GOD DAMN am I excited to get to The Found Magic. The Quinary Conundrum is an amazing followup to The Lost Magic, and expands on everything I thought made the original great and then some. The opening episode isn't quite as strong as TLM's but everything afterwards is a joyous adventure full of creative ideas and cool custom content. Each world is full of fun and unique gimmicks, constantly switching up themes in new and exciting ways, and it ends on one of my new absolute favorite map30's of all time. TQC is a must play for any doom enjoyers, and has cemented Vortale as a mapper who I'll keep a close eye on for any new releases from now on.
