[STARCANNON399'S DEAN OF DOOM SEASON 4 WAD REVIEWS: PART 7 - NECROMANTIC THIRST]
Oh damn, I guessed the upcoming episode wrong! But also I think I'm glad I did because if THIS is what I was trying to finish ahead of schedule I'd have driven myself completely fucking insane. I invoked "It's just not worth it" for the third and likely last time this season unless the Dean pulls the trigger on a secret 10th episode, because fuck me I am not strong enough for the might of the French Doom Community. I took a peek at the episode itself after about 9.5 maps, and immediately realized I should get the hell out what I still can. Necromantic Thirst's maps are packed full of enemies, generally overly lengthy, and needlessly restrictive when it comes to handing out Super Shotguns, and that's BEFORE the truly insane hour plus long slaughterfests. This combination of map length and style of difficulty isn't something I think I wanna put myself through, and I've got enough stuff going on in my life this next week that I can't afford to force myself through this. You will not be prepared for this no matter how prepared you think you are, and I can't suggest giving this a look unless you're already years into custom Doom stuff and revel in excessive length and difficulty.

In contrast, damn what a fun episode! For the most part... I'm glad that NT didn't get the reverent and awe-filled style writing of the Sunder and Abscission episodes, and much like what the D2ICO episode will likely be for many, this was a good substitute for slogging my way through Necromantic Thirst for real. The Map 8 section is one of the best moments across the entire show, and I'm glad to have gained a new band to listen to thanks to it! I could sense some feelings of burnout in the Simulacrum episode, but after this, man I hope MtPain gets some rest after all this. Season 4's theme seems to be exhaustion, and a slowly dwindling flame of passion after many years of this show. It's feeling less like going out with a bang, and more like dragging yourself across a finish line you wish you had crossed years ago. The inevitable dawn of the sun is coming soon, and I hope the sunset of Dean of Doom can still manage to be a happy one after all that's happened this season. See you next week everyone.

Favorite/Least Favorite Map skipped because the WAD wasn't completed.
Consolation prize to Map 8: "Fear of a Blank Planet" though, good job Roofi!
