Pretty neat, but not without rough edges. Lost Civilization is a visual spectacle early on, full of beautifully designed outdoor environments that are a joy to wander around in. Unfortunately, Jaska's combat design is nowhere near his environment design. This wad's first 2/3rds suffer pretty heavily from overpopulated random teleport streams, with too many hitscanners and annoying long distance arachnotron turrets. Despite this, the vibes are pretty on point for the early maps, but Jaska's combat design skills improve pretty significantly over time. map 19 apparently used to be right after map 10, and it really should've stayed that way since having it appear where it is now is incredibly jarring and weird. The finale is both an impressively engrossing journey through one of the most detailed maps I've ever played, and a big slog. Finding all 6 keys takes a ton of aimless wandering (honestly you probably could get away with making any 3 keys open the finale instead of all 6), and the final fight is a total disaster without the BFG (which is only found in a secret I couldn't figure out). It's a big circle full of random teleporting bullshit that becomes completely unsurvivable once you've hit the 4 switches in the center, so you kinda just have to wait for it to implode while trying not to run out of your very limited health supply before diving back in for two MORE switches that then spawns in MORE random bullshit around the exit. Despite the miserable final battle, the impressive architecture and fantastic vibes make Lost Civilization a pretty solid wad overall, and still worth a look if you're a fan of rural towns and lush natural environments.
