When this wad describes itself as "chaotic evil", don't take that warning lightly. Going Down is a wad I've had on my list for a while at this point, and it's gotten a ton of praise over the years, but I don't quite think I clicked with it. There's a ton of creativity in here for sure, and it yet again proves that regular doom 2 textures can look fantastic when used properly, but many of the maps (especially around the middle) are really cramped and chaotic. Fights are full of random slow trickle teleporter traps, which leads to a lot of fights that don't really feel all that properly tested or fun. The difficulty is also decently high for a standard type of wad, health especially gets pretty limited at times which doesn't help much. I do have to praise the visuals though, the theming is kept fresh throughout, even in the hell levels, and the focus on shorter slightly gimmicky maps keeps the momentum up the whole way through. While I haven't played it yet, I do think the 10th anniversary Turbo version is probably the better way to play this wad since it allegedly smooths out some of the jank and reworks the weaker levels. Someone who clicks better with the more chaos oriented fight design than I did will find a lot to love here though.
