A neat mapset bogged down by obnoxious gameplay changes. Drought's 3 maps are fun little bits of popcorn level design, very short and not super complex but they're alright to play and make great use of the OTEX textures. It's definitely way too short to really feel like a fulfilling experience though. Unfortunately, Drought is built with D4V, which I'd never actually used before and I regret being excited to see a new gameplay mod. D4V in concept is cool, reskinning and changing the weapons and enemies to work like Doom 2016, and the new visuals definitely look fantastic, but the enemy changes are massively obnoxious. Every enemy besides the regular hitscanners and shotgunners is now either annoyingly fast or deals a comically huge amount of damage (usually both), and it makes literally any fight ever pretty unfun. Had this mapset been 10 or more maps I'd probably have just dropped it completely, D4V's gameplay alterations are really that obnoxious. Can't really recommend you check this one out.

Oh apparently this is my 49th wad reviewed on the site. Guess I need to find something special for number 50...

Rating - ⭐⭐½

No Favorite/Least Favorite Map award since Drought is only 3 maps and I disliked all of them about equally.
